Fall Mainstage Musical: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
About the Show: Welcome to the world of pure imagination with this tasty Broadway and West End musical based on the famous novel and hit movie. Based on the famous novel by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features an original score composed by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and a book by David Greig. The score also pays homage to the Leslie Bricusse/Anthony Newley score from the 1971 film with songs from the motion picture including "The Candy Man," "I've Got a Golden Ticket," "Oompa Loompa Song," and "Pure Imagination." The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factory…but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination including chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator, all to be revealed by Wonka's army of curious Oompa-Loompas. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is your golden ticket to producing a crowd-pleasing, outrageous ensemble musical with plenty of delicious roles.
This production will be cast with youth and teen actors from Cafeteria Kids Theater (CKT) alongside student and community actors from Napa Valley College.
AUDITION INFORMATION OVERVIEW:
How do I secure an Audition Spot?
We are only able to audition up to 60 children and teens. Our audition slots fill up fast! If you are serious about auditioning, please be prepared to secure a spot ASAP. Approximately 25-30 youth that audition will be offered a role.
Audition Dates: Friday, August 15th and Saturday, August 16th, 2025.
Required Age to Audition: Youth ages 7-14 are invited to audition through Cafeteria Kids Theater. Please note: your child must be 7 years of age at the time of his/her audition.
Note: If your student is aged 15+ they are invited to audition through Napa Valley College, visit performingartsnapavalley.org for those details.
Tuition for Musical Production Class is $825 total broken into 4 installments. A portion of the student's tuition includes costume costs, and a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory T-Shirt. Scholarships are available! Please email [email protected] for information.

- Direction by CKT Executive Director and NVC Theater Faculty Olivia Cowell, with Musical Direction by NVC Director of Vocal Studies Dr. Christina Howell.
- Public performances will run for two weekends 10/17-10/19 and 10/24-10/26, with three discount student matinees during the two weeks of performances (dates/times TBA).
- Rehearsals will take place Mon-Thurs starting 8/25. Actors will not be called to every rehearsal.
- All performances will take place at the Napa Valley College Performing Arts Center Main Stage in Napa.
