Drama Jr.
The best place to start with your young actor, and one of our most popular classes. Unlock your imagination and come play with us as we explore games, storytelling, poetry and song! This five class session gives our youngest actors an introduction to acting techniques in a safe, fun environment. The session ends with an open workshop style performance for friends and family.

Acting I- Training for the Stage
This class will focus on building imagination, spontaneity and confidence on stage through fun, traditional theater games. Students will learn to use their voice, connect with other actors, and create an ensemble. The 6-week session will end with an open workshop style performance of improv games and poetry.

Acting II- Training for the Stage
For serious young actors interested in more in-depth training of acting techniques including voice, movement and scene study. With methods based in Stanislavsky, Meisner, and Viewpoints, actors will examine different approaches to text in scenes and monologues. Classes will also include traditional theater games and improvisation as tools for deepening expression and connection onstage. The 6-week session ends with an open workshop style performance for friends and family.

Spring Youth Production: Little Mermaid Jr.
Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr., adapted from Disney's Broadway production and the motion picture (featuring the enormously popular Academy Award-winning music and delightfully charming book and lyrics). Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories, Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance. In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking. Written to flow seamlessly between land and sea, Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. provides plenty of opportunities to bring this story alive with an ensemble cast! In this production class, every student that enrolls in the class will receive a role. Ticketed performances for the public will be in the Studio Theater (black box) at NVC Performing Arts Center. |
- Dates: March 15th-May 25th (no rehearsals April 13-20th for spring break)
- Days: Mondays 4:30-6:30pm, Wednesdays 4:30-6:30pm, and Saturdays 10-Noon
- Auditions: Saturday March 15th during class- Enrolled students will be sent audition details.
